Air Pressure Testing
Enhance your building’s efficiency and comfort with our expert air pressure testing services
At Waxwing Energy, we specialize in air pressure testing for the low-energy new build and retrofit sectors. With over 10 years of experience and accreditation as a Level 1 tester, we ensure your building’s airtightness meets the highest standards.
Our services are essential for achieving the “Build Tight, Ventilate Right” principle, a cornerstone of energy-efficient building design.
Why Choose Wax Wing Energy for Your Air Pressure Testing?
Decade of Specialised Experience: Leveraging 10 years in air pressure testing across a range of unique projects, from meditation pagodas to the tightest Passivhaus new builds.
Customized Testing Plans: Whether it’s a retrofit or a new build, we offer tailored testing stages to suit your project’s specific needs.
Comprehensive Diagnostics: Utilising the latest in smoke, zoning, and thermal imaging technologies to pinpoint and rectify airtightness issues efficiently and effectively.
Retrofit Testing
We use a comprehensive 3-stage process:
- Pre-Test: Establishes the current infiltration level, identifies weaknesses, and informs the retrofit design’s airtightness strategy.
- Intermediary Test: Conducted while the air-tight layer is accessible, to ensure target airtightness levels are achieved, with immediate diagnostics and rectifications if necessary.
- Completion Test: Confirms the final airtightness level, with all necessary reports and certificates provided for compliance.
New Build Testing
Primarily involving the intermediary and completion tests, our new build testing ensures your project meets the exacting standards from the get-go, with additional tests available for complex issues.
Understanding Permeability and Air Changes Per Hour (ACH)
Airtightness is key to building efficiency and comfort. Our testing focuses on measuring permeability and ACH, ensuring your building meets or exceeds the following standards:
- Retrofit: Aim for 1 ACH for the Passivhaus Enerphit standard and 2 ACH for the AECB retrofit standard.
- New Build: The goal is 0.6 ACH for Passivhaus and 1.5 ACH for the AECB new build standard, with a best practice target of 5 m³/m².a.
Why Airtightness Matters
Achieving optimal airtightness is crucial for energy efficiency, comfort, and environmental impact. Our testing services not only ensure compliance but also contribute to lower energy costs and a healthier indoor environment.
